This program prepares you to become a guide and to supervise groups of visitors to Nunavik during activities, excursions (one day or less) or expeditions (more than 24 hours with at least one overnight stay).

You will learn to accompany tourists on trips taking place in an Arctic environment on a territory occupied by the Inuit people for centuries and in a particular natural setting; unusual, exotic, isolated, unusual or wild places.

This training is offered in English only.

The work of an Arctic Guiding in Nunavik has the following particularities:

Act as an ambassador within his community to disseminate information concerning the activities and his work as a guide
The possibility of supervising a stay for a certain type of activity or a combination of activities, in an environment subject to changing and unpredictable meteorological conditions
Variations concerning the type of stay: a stay with daily excursions and return to the site of departure or multi-activity circuits with overnight stays in other places
Variety of experiences: nature immersion with a strong ethno-cultural component, a strong wilderness component, or focused on practicing and learning sports or outdoor activities
Variable levels of comfort: shelter, winter camping, resorts, hotels, outfitting camps, etc.
Variable levels of risk: depending on the environment visited (isolation, difficult terrain, etc.) or the nature of the activities and means of transportation used
Variable levels of intensity: soft, medium or high adventure

  • be an Inuit person and possess the Inuit beneficiary card.
  • Have relevant experience in the outdoor field
  • Have good communication skills
  • Be recognized by the community for having a strong sense of leadership in a natural environment
  • Have a well-groomed appearance
