What is RAC?

The RAC process provides adults with the opportunity to receive academic credits for skills and knowledge gained through training, life or work experience if they are related to a recognized program of study.

 

Who is RAC for?

  • Do you have significant experience in hotel and restaurant management?

What is the length of the process?

Since this is an individual process, the duration will be reduced if more time is allocated.

The length of time needed to complete the process depends on how much time you can invest each week.

How to get started?

Attend the information session (mandatory)

If you believe that you have skills and knowledge that are comparable to those listed in the competencies of ACS – Sustainable Management of Hotels and Restaurants (LJA.20), please sign-up for an information session to find out if RAC is the right option for you.

Apply to be admitted to the RAC Process

Submit the following documents with your application:

  • Registration form. Please, click here to download it  
  • A birth certificate.
  • A resume (Curriculum vitae) that demonstrates relevant experience related to ACS – Sustainable Management of Hotels and Restaurants (LJA.20).
  • Transcripts from post-secondary education.
  • Other application relevant information (if applicable).

If needed:

  • Proof of status in Canada (visa, permanent residency, naturalized citizen, etc.).
  • Proof of residency in Quebec (selection certificate from Quebec, municipal assessment, lease, etc.).

*The quality of the files must be optimal (clear and readable) to be accepted.

Attend a validation interview

Once you have completed the self-assessment forms, a content specialist will review your forms. Afterwards, you will be asked to attend a validation interview during which the content specialist will review the self-assessment forms with you. During this interview, the specialist will make recommendations for each competency (ex: evaluation, partial training, attend a complete course).

Our RAC counsellor will get in touch with you to schedule a validation interview.

 

Start Evaluation

For your evaluations, you will be required to provide proof of your skills and knowledge (certificates or diplomas, transcripts, etc.) for each program competency.

You will also need to complete evaluation activities or participate in an interview to earn recognition for the competencies.

In preparation for evaluations, you will have the option to:

  • Consult free online resources.
  • Access to availability time of a content specialist.
  • Receive small group or individual training (upon request and availability).

Our RAC counsellor will get in touch with you once you are ready to start evaluation.

 

Application fees

  • A non-refundable 35$ fee applies to submit an application for admission. It must be paid before the validation interview, but after the information session.
  • 40 $ per evaluated competency
        1 to 10 competencies: maximum 300$
        11 to 20 competencies: maximum 500$
        21 competencies and more: maximum 600$
  • Form of payment accepted: cash, cheque, money order
